Umpqua River Rafting Guided Trips River Description / Natural History |
The Umpqua river, an
exceptional whitewater rafting waterway, is located in Oregon's southern
Cascade mountains, between Crater Lake and Roseburg. It is a crystal clear
alpine river, famous for exhilirating rapids, pristine scenery, and great
fishing.
Regarded by many as one of the finest white water rafting rivers in the U.S., the Umpqua river rafting trips feature sections in which rapids come one right after another. Numerous class III and III+ rapids are found in the most commonly rafted stretch, with a handful of class IV rapids sprinkled throughout the run. Commercially guided Umpqua whitewater rafting trips are available through Destination Wilderness. These trips range in length from one to three days, and are ideal for whitewater enthusiasts, first-timers, families and independent travelers. For more information on these and other Oregon river trips see the Destination Wilderness website. River flows for rafting are generally best from March through early September, although with a good snowpack it is possible to raft the river all year long.
